SANTARAMA 2024
It’s Time for Santarama!
The EAC will host our annual Santarama event on December 11 and 12, 2024 in the Emerson art room.
What is Santarama?
It is a two-day pop-up shop in our Art Room that is filled with gently used merchandise donated by Emerson families.
Is there a cost to shop at Santarama?
Students are encouraged to bring a small cash donation of $1 or $2 and shop for up to two items for gifting to a family member or friend this holiday season (purchasing items for themselves is discouraged). All students are welcome to select one or two gifts, regardless of whether or not they bring a cash donation.
What are the cash donations used for?
Cash donations are distributed to teachers whose classes are doing community food hampers so they can purchase milk, protein, fresh food or gifts.
What kind of items can we donate to the Santarama pop up shop?
We welcome games, toys, and books for children of all ages. Decorative accessories such as holiday decorations, home décor, costume jewelry, candles, adult chapter books, etc are quite popular gift items. Sports books, golf accessories, small tools, etc. are highly sought after. Our students shop for younger and older siblings as well as for parents, grandparents and caregivers, so a wide variety of donations are welcome. Please note: We are unable to accept plush or clothing as donations.
How can we donate items?
If you will pick up fundraising items on December 5 (kolbassa, perogies or Schreimers Garden Centre orders), you can bring your donations to the Art Room during the pickup times. If that doesn’t work for you, donations can be placed in the bins in front of the office from December 5-9.
What happens to leftover items?
In the past, we have encouraged our staff to look at leftover books to see if there are any titles they can add to classroom libraries. We have donated books to other schools as well. Any items that cannot be used in the school are donated to a local thrift store.
When do students bring home their gifts?
Students will bring their wrapped gifts home the day they select them.
What if I don’t have items to donate? How else can I help?
We rely on volunteers to help students select and wrap gifts. If you are available for a portion of one of the two days to help, please contact the office. We also appreciate donations of tape, gift wrap, ribbon and gift bags.
